People need stability says the President
Georgia, part of the former Soviet Union and a close ally of the United States faced demonstrations, demanding the resignation of President Mikhail Saakashvili for waging a disastrous five day war against Russia and also for monopolizing power and stifling the judiciary and media. The president said he will not bow down to pressure as people wanted long term stability. The West is having a close watch on the happenings of this Caucasus state that is the transit route for oil, as it does not want a repeat of November 2007, when a similar peaceful demonstration was dispersed using tear gas and rubber bullets.
